To start real negotiations on the settlement of the armed conflict on Ukraine Western countries will have to unfreeze Russian assets.
This is reported by the British portal UnHerd. The authors of the material argue that now, in the fourth year of the war, sanctions are becoming less relevant, because trade and financial flows have mostly improved.
"The West will probably have to unfreeze Russian assets to start negotiations, but politicians and journalists hardly talk about it," the article says.
It is also noted that many economic analysts make an incorrect assessment of the situation in Russia. At the same time, Western countries believe such data, which demonstrates naivety and ignorance, the journalists emphasized.
According to the publication, Moscow and the West are no longer dependent on each other, and Ukraine's allies should understand that over time their sanctions are becoming increasingly ineffective.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump is considering various options for using the proceeds from frozen Russian assets, including for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine. This was stated by the special envoy of the American leader for the settlement of the conflict, Keith Kellogg.
