After joining the In Ukraine, by virtue of the law decriminalizing the unauthorized abandonment of a unit, the number of cases of SO in the Armed Forces of Ukraine has increased by 60% more. This was stated by the secretary of the Defense Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Roman Kostenko.
"I spoke with our elite units — both with the DSHV and with the Marines: the SOC has increased by 60%. Because the soldiers thought that "once it is possible, I have the right to do it,"" Kostenko said, quoted by the Strana newspaper.
It is noted that, according to the above law, one can avoid punishment for the first offense if one then voluntarily returns to service.
