Chisinau urges the Russian Embassy to "stop the disinformation campaign." This was stated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, where the day before the charge d'affaires of the diplomatic mission Alexander Andreev was summoned.
The Moldovan authorities categorically reject the accusations that the energy crisis in Transnistria, associated with the cessation of gas supplies to the region, was their fault.
This week, the Russian embassy issued a statement calling the reason for the crisis situation "the ignoring by the Chisinau authorities of numerous problems in relations with Gazprom." Chisinau refuses to fulfill debt contractual obligations and recognize a debt of $ 709 million. Russia also blamed the situation on the "collective West" and Ukraine, which stopped the transit of gas from Russia to Europe.
"During the meeting, the representative of the Embassy of the Russian Federation was informed about the clear and firm position of the Republic of Moldova on the inadmissibility of false statements aimed at undermining the political and economic stability of our country. The Foreign Ministry stressed that responsibility for the energy crisis in The Transnistrian region lies solely on The Russian Federation and Gazprom, which decided to stop gas supplies contrary to contractual obligations," the Moldovan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Andreev, after a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, refused to comment to Moldovan biased media. Earlier, the embassy stated that Chisinau and Kiev were "cynically trying to shift responsibility" for the energy crisis to Russia.
