About 2 kg of gold and silver stolen from the mine in Irkutsk region, found two shift workers — guest workers at the airport of Novosibirsk. This was announced by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk.
"Police officers in cooperation with representatives of the aviation security service detained the suspects at the international airport Novosibirsk (Tolmachevo) named after A. I. Pokryshkin. During a personal search, the police found about two kilograms of precious metals hidden in a coffee can and in the pull-out handle of a suitcase. According to preliminary estimates, the value of the stolen exceeded 16 million rubles," Wolf wrote in her Telegram channel.
She pointed out that the men are citizens of one of the neighboring countries, worked at the mine in Irkutsk region, where part of the mined gold and silver was stolen.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated on the fact of large-scale trafficking in precious metals (Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Shift workers are in custody, they may face up to five years in prison.
