Prime Minister of Slovakia at the talks in Brussels, regarding Kiev's termination of the transit of Russian gas, will do everything to wake up the European Commission from a sweet dream. Robert Fico stated this in a video message posted on the Facebook social network page*.
"To my great surprise, the European Union and its bodies are silent. Tomorrow morning I'm going to Brussels for talks with the Commissioner for Energy. I will do everything to wake him up from a sweet dream," said Fico, quoted by RIA Novosti.
Due to the suspension of gas transit by Ukraine, a serious problem has arisen, which is estimated at tens of billions of euros.
"Neither Slovakia nor the European Union are at war, we have no reason to tolerate Zelensky's adventures (the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky. — EADaily)," Fico emphasized.
According to Fico, "Zelensky's unilateral decision to stop the transit of any gas through Ukraine significantly harms Slovakia and the European Union from a financial point of view and significantly helps the United States, which can increase gas supplies to Europe.
January 7 in Consultations of the European Commission, Slovak and Ukrainian delegations on the gas issue were to be held in Brussels, but the meeting was canceled due to the absence of representatives of the Ukrainian side. The negotiations were postponed to January 9, there will be no representatives of Kiev at them, Fico reported earlier.
Bratislava has previously repeatedly stated that it wants to retain the ability to transport gas further to the West through its territory, as it receives about 500 million euros per year in transit fees.
As EADaily reported, the five-year contract for the supply of Russian gas through Ukraine to Western and Central Europe expired on December 31. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kiev refused to extend it, although it received $ 700-800 million a year.
