German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is going to visit Moscow on a peace mission. This is reported by the German magazine Der Spiegel.
According to the newspaper, the current chancellor is trying to use the topic of reconciliation between Kiev and Moscow to increase his own political rating on the eve of early parliamentary elections.
"The representative of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) leaned forward and whispered that he had heard a very interesting story last week. His old acquaintance and his company are members of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy. And there, in the committee, they are firmly convinced that the chancellor will go to Moscow in the coming days with a "peaceful mission,"" the article quoted by <url> says.
At the same time, the Chancellor's office refuted this statement, calling it just a rumor and nothing more. Such plans are not currently being discussed, the office stressed.
There have been no requests for a visit to Russia by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the publication in Der Spiegel, TASS reports.
