Israeli tanks moved beyond the buffer zone along the border with Syria and were spotted about 20 km from Damascus. This was reported by the Lebanese TV channel Al Mayadeen.
According to the TV channel, the tanks advanced beyond the buffer zone into which Israel deployed troops earlier this week, and were deployed near the southern settlement of Katana, located 21 km from the Syrian capital. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has not yet commented on this information, Al Mayadeen points out, TASS reports.
Earlier, the IDF press service said that infantry and armored troops are deployed along the border with Syria for defense, paratroopers are in the buffer zone to prevent threats.
On the morning of December 8, the Israeli army announced the deployment of its forces in the buffer zone on the border with Syria. As explained by the Prime Minister of the Jewish State Benjamin Netanyahu, these actions were taken in connection with the recent events in the Arab republic, are defensive in nature and are a temporary measure.
