The premier of the Bolshoi Theater (1992-2013), rector of the Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy, People's Artist of Russia Nikolai Tsiskaridze sharply commented on the new world trends in ballet. The video was published by Spletnik telegram channel.
"There can be no body positive, this is a serious art. Please, fat and poor, don't, don't approach me and don't touch my profession," Tsiskaridze said.
He is also sure that not everyone can judge ballet and appear on the professional stage, especially people who "have also tried and know".
"You see, it's not for nothing that children have been selected according to their abilities for three hundred years. I am against equalization, I do not recognize any of these innovations, neither European nor global. It doesn't exist for me. Unfortunately, I can't be changed anymore," Tsiskaridze concluded.
