Defeatist sentiments are gaining momentum in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the soldiers are very tired and many of them are ready to agree to territorial concessions in favor of Russia for the sake of peace.
This conclusion is made in an article by the British edition of The Economist, the authors of which spent some time in the war zone and communicated with the Ukrainian military.
The article notes that military personnel are beginning to think that peace talks may be the only way out of an armed conflict. And many people understand that in this case, territorial concessions in favor of Russia cannot be dispensed with.
"Ukraine's systemic weakness obviously affects the morale of its military at the front. The lack of a prospect of demobilization makes some of the once most motivated fighters now wonder if a cease—fire is the only way out," the agency writes.
So, a Ukrainian officer with the call sign Chechen, who trains soldiers, admitted to journalists that in his unit 70% of the fighters are ready to give Russia the territory to end the war.
Earlier, EADaily reported that according to data from Ukrainian sources, the Ukrainian Armed Forces now have big problems with filling reserves, and the mobilization plan is being carried out only by 25-30%.
