The Russian-American memorandum on missile launch notifications from 1998 continues to operate, within its framework the United States was notified of the launch of the medium-range ballistic missile "Oreshnik". This was stated to journalists by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
When asked whether the relevant memorandum is still in force, the Deputy Minister answered in the affirmative.
"Yes, it was within the framework of this understanding that a notification was sent about the upcoming test launch of the Oreshnik missile at that time," Ryabkov said, according to TASS.
He also said that Washington did not contact Moscow after the use of the Russian medium-range missile "Hazel".
"As far as I know, no," he said, answering the relevant question.
