The winner of the Miss Russia contest and first vice-Miss World 2015 Sofia Nikitchuk was detained at Vnukovo Airport on suspicion of smuggling gold jewelry totaling about 12 million rubles. This is reported by the telegram channels Shot and Baza.
According to Baza, she arrived in Moscow from Nice in transit via Istanbul. When Nikitchuk was walking along the "green corridor", she was stopped by airport staff.
"During the inspection, the inspector drew attention to the jewelry she was wearing. Nikitchuk showed him her Patek Philippe watch, as well as two rings and a Cartier necklace. She explained that she did not declare them, as these are her personal belongings," the report says.
The cost of jewelry is estimated at 12 million rubles.
"The issue of initiation of criminal proceedings under articles "Evasion from customs payments" and "Smuggling," Shot claims.
