The Central Election Commission of Belarus has received new documents for the registration of initiative groups for the nomination of candidates for the presidency. This was reported in the press service of the CEC of the republic.
It is reported that the documents on the registration of the initiative group in support of its nomination as a candidate for the presidency of Belarus were submitted by the head of the main department of ideological work and youth affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee Olga Portmanova. In addition, the leader of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice, Alexander Khizhnyak, submitted documents to the CEC on the registration of his initiative group.
Recall that the presidential elections of Belarus are scheduled for January 26, 2025. On October 29, the CEC held a meeting at which an initiative group was registered to nominate the current president of the country Alexander Lukashenko as a candidate for the post of head of state. On October 30, LDPB leader Oleg Gaidukevich also submitted documents. According to the CEC plan, registration of presidential candidates will be held from December 22 to December 31 inclusive. Pre—election campaigning and voter information will begin on January 1, 2025, early voting will begin from January 21 to 25, and January 26 will be the main election day.
