Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said that if the ruling Georgian Dream party wins the parliamentary elections, she may be arrested, Mtavari TV channel reports.

At a press conference, the head of state was asked what would happen if the ruling party won.

"If this happens, I will probably be impeached and I will go to prison," Zurabishvili said.

Elections to the Parliament of Georgia will be held on October 26. As of October 23, the Georgian Dream is in the lead among all political forces — 35% of voters are ready to vote for it. The opposition "Coalition for Change" (19%) and "Unity — National Movement" (16%) are in second and third places.

The opposition criticizes the ruling party for improving relations with Russia, as well as the adoption of laws on foreign agents and the prohibition of "LGBT propaganda"* (the movement is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia). These laws were the reason for the actual suspension of Georgia's inclusion in the European Union.

Zurabishvili promised to return the country to the "European path". In September, she announced plans to run for a second presidential term, RBC reminds.
