The Israeli authorities warned the United States of their intention to strike at the secretary General of the Shiite Hezbollah movement, Hassan Nasrallah, at the last moment. This was reported by ABC TV channel, citing sources.

According to him, in response to this, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin "became enraged," stating the "great risks" that the United States "faces in this region." He also pointed to a possible response to the actions of the Jewish state, for which Washington did not have time to prepare.

One of the interlocutors of the TV channel noted that US interests in the Middle East "could suffer greatly" if American officials finally lose contact with their Israeli counterparts, TASS reports.

On September 23, Israel launched massive airstrikes against Hezbollah military facilities in Lebanon as part of the "Arrows of the North" military operation. Nasrallah was assassinated in Beirut on September 27. On September 28, Hezbollah officially confirmed his death. US President Joe Biden and Vice President, candidate for the highest state post from the Democrats Kamala Harris supported the actions of the Israeli forces.
