The final date of the rupture of the still unified energy system of Russia and the Baltic states is scheduled for February 8, 2025. It is then that the Baltic power grid operators will be disconnected from the electric power system of Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania (BRELL), as reported by TASS today, September 19.
The information was confirmed by the Minister of Energy of Lithuania Dainius Krevis.
"Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia will disconnect from the BRELL system on February 8 and will conduct a test of operation in isolated mode," the Lithuanian minister said.
The very next day after the appointed date, Kravis added, the Baltic power grids will begin to operate synchronously with other European networks.
EADaily reminds that in August last year, the prime ministers of the Baltic states signed a corresponding document, coordinating these actions with the European Commission.
