Heterogeneous forces of the Northern Fleet struck Vulkan and Onyx cruise missiles to simulate high-speed enemy ships in the Barents Sea as part of the Ocean-2024 strategic command and staff exercise.

"Practical launches of anti-ship missiles "Vulkan" and "Onyx was carried out by the Marshal Ustinov missile cruiser and the Bastion combat crew from the position area on the coast of the Kola Peninsula," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

It is noted that the long-range anti-submarine aircraft of the mixed aviation Corps of the Northern Fleet Tu-142 provided the target designation for the target position to the command post of the grouping of heterogeneous strike forces.

"The area of the missile firing was closed in advance for civilian shipping and aviation flights. The closure of the area was ensured by the ships of the Kola Flotilla of heterogeneous forces," the department said.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the shooting was carried out by Vulkan and Onyx anti-ship cruise missiles at a range of more than 200 and about 180 kilometers, respectively.

"All targets were successfully hit," the military department said.
