Former employee of the Department of advanced interspecific research and special projects of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Andrei Chekmazov and his deputy Dmitry Fomin were sent under house arrest in the case of a bribe worth more than 7.7 million rubles. This was reported today, September 5, in the TC of the military investigative bodies RF IC.

"In the period from June 2023 to September 3 of this year, Chekmazov and Fomin received a bribe from Sukharev in the total amount of 7 million 710 thousand rubles for unhindered acceptance of the stages of the work being carried out, failure to take measures on the violations identified, as well as general patronage and connivance in the service. The court, at the request of the investigation, chose a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to Chekmazov, in relation to Fomin — in the form of house arrest,"the report says.

As noted in the UK, Alexander Sukharev, Deputy General Director of Oborontest JSC, is also being held as part of the criminal case. He is suspected of committing a crime under Part 5 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (giving a bribe on an especially large scale).

"The investigation found that in 2016 and 2022, 2 state contracts were signed between the Department of Advanced interspecific research and special projects of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Oborontest JSC to carry out development work for the needs of the Russian Ministry of Defense as part of the execution of a state defense order with a total value of 1.5 billion rubles," the department explained.

The investigation of the criminal case is under control at the Main Military Investigation Department RF IC.
