The Russian retaliatory strike on Ukraine's energy system turned out to be effective. Massive blackouts have returned to the country. In Kiev, the head of the power system operator, Vladimir Kudritsky, was blamed for allegedly failing to organize the construction of protective structures around substations. The Ukrainian media write that the real reason is the struggle for power, which is on the Ukraine did not stop.

On August 26, the Russian army launched an effective massive retaliatory strike on the Ukrainian energy system. First of all, it was inflicted on substations, which caused disruptions in the operation of the power system and the return of massive outages throughout the country.

At the Friday bet with Vladimir Zelensky, the head of the power system operator, the head of Ukrenergo, Vladimir Kudritsky, was made guilty.

"(The head of the Office of the President Rostislav) Shurma and (Energy Minister German) Galushchenko reported that Kudritsky seemed to be "not diligently fulfilling previous rate decisions and poorly protecting his own facilities. This was the formal reason why they will try to remove the head of Ukrenergo in the near future," writes the TOP Energy telegram channel associated with Ukrainska Pravda.

He notes that the initiative belongs to the head of the Ministry of Energy German Galushchenko, who is under anti-corruption investigation. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) conducted searches at the head of the Ministry of Energy, why he did not attend the report to parliament, fearing questions. The minister is in the case of his deputy Alexander Heilo about extortion of $ 500 thousand for permission to remove mining equipment from the frontline zone — from Pokrovsk.

Vladimir Kudritsky himself was not present at the bet and refused to write a statement of his own volition. Therefore, his question will be decided by the Supervisory board of Ukrenergo.

"If they (the company's supervisory board) make such a decision, then you can forget about the independence of supervisory boards in Ukrainian state—owned companies," Alexander Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center, told Ukrainian Forbes.

"In 2023, the government approved the allocation of UAH 9.7 billion to Ukrenergo for the protection of substations. But these funds were unavailable to the company for a long time due to bureaucratic procedures, Kudritsky said. In July 2024, the EU provided Ukrenergo with a grant of 100 million euros for the protection of facilities and restoration. The European Commission has authorized KfW to send Ukrenergo funds from the EU Ukraine Investment Facility special budget program," the newspaper writes.

The TALK telegram channel reports that rumors about Kudritsky's possible departure caused numerous speeches by experts and market participants in defense of the head of Ukrenergo.

For example, the profile associations of investors in the green generation opposed the dismissal. The European-Ukrainian Energy Agency appealed to Vladimir Zelensky and the chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo. We went the same way to Ukrainian Wind Energy Association. Ukrainian telegram channels note that such support of the head of the state-owned company on Ukraine is rare.
