The right-wing Alternative for Germany party took second place in the elections to the state parliament of Saxony, receiving the support of 30.6% of voters, according to official results published by the State Statistical Office of Saxony.
According to the results, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party took the first place in the elections, receiving the support of 31.9% of voters.
The left—wing party "Sarah Wagenknecht's Union - for Reason and Justice" (SSV) received support of 11.1%. The Social Democratic Party of Germany of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz received 7.3% of support.
The results were published after the verification of votes in 435 municipalities of the region. The turnout in the elections was 74.4%.
