Another female billionaire entered the Forbes list in Russia with a fortune of one billion dollars. Lyudmila Kogan is from St. Petersburg and is the main shareholder of Uralsib Bank, having inherited shares from her husband, Vladimir Kogan, who died in 2019, <url> reports today, August 30.

According to Forbes, the basis of her fortune is a controlling stake in Uralsib Bank, one of the twenty largest banks in Russia. Its market value is estimated at more than 50 billion rubles.

Lyudmila Kogan also owns a large leasing company Interlizing, shares in companies belonging to the BFA-Development construction group, which builds residential buildings and owns several business centers in St. Petersburg.

Lyudmila Kogan is the widow of the famous St. Petersburg businessman Vladimir Kogan. In the 1990s, Vladimir Kogan became a co-owner of the Industrial and Construction Bank of St. Petersburg (PSB), which by the early 2000s had grown to the status of the largest St. Petersburg bank. In 2005, Kogan became the General director of the Directorate of the complex of flood Defenses of St. Petersburg, resuming the construction of dams and other hydraulic structures to protect the city from floods. Kogan continued to oversee construction, holding various positions in the Federal Agency for Construction and Housing and Communal Services and the Ministry of Regional Development. In 2013, after the completion of the complex, he returned to business. In 2015, the Central Bank selected Vladimir Kogan as a new investor for the financial rehabilitation of the troubled bank Uralsib. In 2019, the businessman died after suffering a stroke.
