Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev expressed his opinion in connection with the incident with the arrest in France of Telegram founder Pavel Durov, noting that he miscalculated by abandoning Russia.

"Once, quite a long time ago, I asked Durov why he did not want to cooperate with law enforcement agencies on serious crimes. "This is my principled position," he said. "Then there will be serious problems in any country," I told him," Medvedev wrote in his telegram channel.

The deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation added that Durov then "considered that he had the biggest problems in Russia, and left, then also received citizenship / residence permit in other countries."

"I wanted to be a brilliant "man of the world" who lives well without a Homeland. Ubi bene ibi patria! (a Latin expression meaning "where it's good, there (and) homeland")," Medvedev added.

"He miscalculated. For all our common enemies now, he is Russian — and therefore unpredictable and dangerous. Other blood. Definitely not Musk and not Zuckerberg (by the way, actively cooperating with the FBI). Durov needs to finally understand that the Fatherland, like the times, is not chosen," the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council summed up.

As EADaily reported, the Americans — famous journalist Tucker Carlson, billionaire, owner of the social network X Elon Musk and entrepreneur David Sachssupported the founder of Telegram Pavel Durov, detained in Paris.

Durov flew to Paris from Baku, accompanied by his assistant and bodyguard, was planning to spend at least one evening in the French capital, where he had a table booked in one of the restaurants. This was reported by the newspaper Le Figaro. Durov's Embraer Legacy 600 plane landed at the French airport yesterday at 19.30 local time. A few minutes later Pavel was detained.

According to the newspaper, one of the investigators was surprised that Durov, knowing that he was wanted in France, still decided to come to Paris. Another source close to the case suggested that Durov's decision was due to a "sense of impunity."

According to French journalists, Durov is considered "involved in drug trafficking, crimes against children, cybercrime, and fraud" due to the "lack of moderation and cooperation with representatives of the law" at Telegram.

It is also alleged that Durov knew that he could be detained in France. Therefore, for a long time I avoided traveling to Europe. The Telegram founder is expected to appear in court on Sunday, August 25.

Telegram founder Pavel Durov was put on the wanted list just minutes before landing in Paris and issued an arrest warrant, according to BFMTV.
