"For some reason we thought that Russia should fight instead of us" — Armenian politician

Today, a marginal minority is in power in Armenia, says Hayk Mamidzhanyan, the head of the opposition bloc "I have the Honor" faction (the political alliance of the ex—ruling Republican Party of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan with the Fatherland party, formed in May 2021 before the early parliamentary elections of 2021).

"These are people who are unable to understand the role of language, family, AAC, perception of the Motherland in our national identity. They are well aware that they are a minority in our country," the politician said on the MediaArena program, VERELQ reports.

According to Mamidzhanyan, the current ruling team came to power through consistent and endless lies, manipulations and political technologies.

Today, in an effort to stay in power, the "governing" force and, in particular, the current prime minister are trying to oppose security — a good life, which is another manifestation of manipulation.

"Pashinyan is the only leader who scares his own people with war and mandatory defeat, I do not know anyone else who would do the same," the parliamentarian said.

Trying to predict the reasons and understand the motives of Pashinyan's careless actions today is thankless work. At the same time, the politician did not rule out that the prime minister is following the path of early elections. But Mamidzhanyan hopes that this time the opposition will not repeat the mistakes of 2021.:

"If you remember, we opposed the early elections, we announced our participation in the elections at the last moment, when the elections were in fact already an established fact. We took part when other opposition forces had almost started the election campaign. I cannot say that Pashinyan will definitely go to the early elections, however, I hope that the opposition will not repeat the mistakes of the past."

In turn, the former head of the SRC (State Revenue Committee), public figure David Ananyan believes that at present the overwhelming majority of the Armenian society "has no desire to demonstrate viability."

"To these 60-70% of people sitting at home waiting for a knight on a white horse, I hasten to inform you that there will be no such thing. After all, why are we in the current situation? Because for some reason we believed that Russia should fight instead of us, that France would not allow historical injustice.
Today's authorities believed that Russia should solve problems instead of them, and the opposition was confident that Russia should change the current government and appoint them in its place.
In a word: we all relied on the help of external forces to solve our internal problems. Naturally, we need to work actively with external forces, various geopolitical poles and create a common agenda, but the constant transfer of responsibility for our own inaction and incapacity to external forces indicates a low level of our viability," Ananyan said on the Review program.

According to the expert, there is de facto no real opposition in today's Armenia:

"Existence has certain signs. I don't see any signs of opposition today. Bagrat Srbazan is not an oppositionist, he is the spiritual leader of the national liberation movement. So far, this movement has no political component, which means that the movement does not form a political agenda."
