In Kazakhstan, it is necessary to gradually increase the prices of commercial gas in order not to cause a sharp jump in prices for the population. This was stated at a meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan by the Minister of Energy of the Republic Almasadam Satkaliyev.
According to him, today the average cost of commercial gas is 33,169 tenge per 1,000 m3 (about 6 thousand rubles — approx. EADaily) with an approved wholesale price for commercial gas of 23,646 tenge (about 4.5 thousand rubles — approx. EADaily).
"In order to attract investments in the gas industry and achieve the cost of commercial gas, a phased increase in gas prices is required, taking into account the prevention of a sharp increase in prices for the population. So, starting from July 1, 2024, the marginal prices of wholesale sales of commercial gas in the domestic market of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been revised with an average increase of 14.6%," Satkaliyev said.
He added that within three years it is planned to achieve break-even sales of gas in the domestic market, which will cover the country's growing demand for gas and implement important investment projects.
