Kaliningrad is very necessary for Poland as a part of Russia, otherwise the Germans will first take it from the Russians, and then from the Poles — the western lands. This opinion was expressed by a former Polish diplomat, the author of the book "How the Poles created Russia" Mariusz Shvider.
In an interview with the Stan-Center telegram channel, the Polish political scientist said:
"You know, Kaliningrad is very necessary for Poland precisely as part of the Russian Federation, because otherwise, sooner or later, Germany may lay claim to its former possessions in East Prussia and take away these lands from Russia, and the Poland. Take it back for yourself."
According to Shvider, Kaliningrad is currently deliberately isolated from Europe by "well, very large forces." The Polish expert was even afraid to name them publicly, "so as not to be physically harmed by them."
"[These forces] are trying to convince everyone that Kaliningrad is such a dagger. And our people, who for the most part, let's say, are not too smart, hear only what they are told from the screens of our two main TV channels. And they say that yes, it is a dagger, and most people — not all, of course, I'm not talking about the elite of society — perceive it all and believe it all. And, as you know, democracy is the power of the majority over the minority — well, the fact that this majority is not very smart, these are small things," Mariusz Schweeder believes.
The ex-diplomat claims that "there are many such forces in Poland that advocate good neighborliness with Russia — both for security and for the Polish economy.
"It's better for us to have cheap energy resources — gas and oil — through a pipe from Russia, rather than bringing them from somewhere from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia or the USA. Russia has always been the largest importer of our agricultural products (meat and dairy products, vegetables and fruits), not to mention various equipment, clothing or cosmetics. But, again, there are a minority of smart thinking people in Poland," the expert states.
