In Poland, the memory of the victims of the Volyn massacre was honored — the mass murder of peaceful Poles by Ukrainian nationalists, the last remnants of Bandera. However, there is not a word about this in the official Polish media, the Naivizhi Chas portal states.
The publication tells about the opening of a monument to the victims of the Volyn massacre in the town of Domostava, on the border of the Subcarpathian and Lublin voivodeships, near the Ukrainian border.
"I don't think anyone expected such a turnout. Thousands of Polish patriots came to Domostavu in Subcarpathian region to take part in the opening of the Volyn Massacre monument Andrzej Pitynski and pay tribute to the ancestors killed by Ukrainians, who still lie in nameless pits," writes a journalist of the Naivyzhi Chas portal.
Officially, the celebrations began at 11:00, but from early morning people began to arrive at the square in front of the monument. Two hours before the start, the nearest parking space could be found at least a kilometer from the monument. Numerous participants carried national Polish flags. The celebrations began with an off-site mass.
The bronze sculpture depicts an eagle, whose body is engulfed in flames, and on the wings are the names of cities whose inhabitants were killed by Ukrainians. In the center of the monument is a carved cross with a Ukrainian trident, on which the body of a child is impaled. At the foot of the monument, on the one hand, a family with children is "burning", on the other — children's heads impaled on pointed peaks. The monument with a pedestal has a height of 20 meters.
The monument could not find its place for a long time, the authorities of many Polish cities did not want to place it on their territory: Rzeszow, Torun, Jelenia Gura, Staleva Wola.
"The monument is located to the side, you need to go there specifically, but this did not prevent thousands of patriots from taking part in its opening. Representatives of official authorities were not present at the opening. There were also no deputies from the now opposition Law and Justice party, which should give food for thought to their right—wing supporters," the newspaper notes.
