Moscow has no intention of opening military bases in Cuba, said Alexander Schetinin, Director of Department of Latin America of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“We are not planning military bases in Cuba. We have never considered this issue. Our relations with Cuba have been developing in a quite different track. Issues regarding combat effectiveness of the Cuban Armed Forces are another matter, but there are no grounds to say we are going to establish something there,” the diplomat said in an interview to RIA Novosti.
