Latvian Defense Minister Raimonds Vejonis believes that Russia has become an adversary for other countries instead of being a partner. He shared this opinion in his Twitter account.
“Situation in Ukraine shows us unfortunatly that Russia has chosen to be our foe not the partner,” says the Latvian defense minister. To remind, Latvia became a NATO member in 2004.
It is worth mentioning also that several Latvian politicians have already expressed their support of the idea to increase NATO presence in the republic due to the developments in Ukraine. 150 US troopers are sent to Latvia. NATO forces fighter planes are patrolling the Latvian air space more actively.
