Russia's demands on Ukraine are getting tougher, as the Kremlin believes that Russia has a military advantage, Bloomberg writes following the visit of US presidential envoys to Moscow, citing sources close to the Russian authorities.
According to them, Putin is ready to stop the war only on his own terms, and expectations from the visit of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner's "extremely low." Previous trips by American negotiators have not led to progress, and now the agency's sources in Russia sees no reason to believe that the United States has brought proposals acceptable to the Kremlin.
Bloomberg's sources Kiev also does not expect a significant breakthrough. According to them, the American side may again propose previously discussed ideas, including the creation of an economic free zone in the Donbas, which Russia has already rejected.
Earlier, Reuters wrote that following the talks in Moscow, "there are no signs of a breakthrough."
At the moment, neither side is voicing which specific proposals the Americans brought to Moscow and are taking to Kiev.
