Karina Shulyak, a native of Belarus, is a potential heir to the money of American financier and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. This is reported by The New York Times portal.
The publication clarifies that Shulyak is the last person Epstein called before his death in prison. According to investigators, she may receive about $ 100 million.
The 37-year-old woman, who worked as a dentist, met Epstein when she was 21 years old. Against the background of a long-term relationship with the financier, no criminal cases were opened against her, and she also did not call herself his victim.
In the disclosed correspondence, data on Epstein's assistance in enrolling in dental school and obtaining US citizenship were found. Then the financier indicated same-sex marriage (with an LGBT representative[1]]) as the shortest way to get a green card.
Earlier this year, the publication says, the US Congress accused Epstein of abusing the migration system, and Shulyak's marriage with an American woman was called "illusory." However, the authorities did not challenge Shulyak's citizenship on this basis.
After Epstein admitted his guilt in inducing a minor to prostitution, as well as after being accused of dozens of cases of violence against teenagers, Shulyak called the financier a "wonderful person," but she decided to stop communicating, rejecting any help from him.
In 2019, Shulyak and Epstein looked like a couple, the publication clarifies. She spent most of her time at his mansion in New York, instead of working as a dentist, she managed his real estate and staff. At the same time, they went to Paris, and upon Epstein's return to the United States, he was immediately detained. A month after his arrest, Epstein called on Shulyak by phone to "be strong" and temporarily find another place to stay. The next day he was found dead in his cell.
Shortly before his death, Epstein corrected his will, leaving Shulyak about $ 600 million — the bulk of his fortune, including a diamond ring on the "eve of marriage."
As EADaily reported, model scout Daniel Siad, suspected of searching for girls for Epstein, was found dead in France on July 22. It was clarified that Siad is mentioned 2090 times in the so-called "Epstein files". According to investigators, he could have been an intermediary who introduced the girls to the financier.
