The Russian State traffic Inspectorate in the period from June 26 to June 28 conducts mass checks on roads throughout the country. Particular attention is paid to identifying drivers driving a vehicle in a state of intoxication.
It is known that preventive measures are carried out on the roads in Ivanovo, Tambov, Murmansk, Ulyanovsk, Kirov, Penza, Samara, Ryazan regions and other regions of the country.
This is reported by the Izvestia edition, referring to announcements in the regional departments of the department. Police Colonel Anton Belan, head of the GUOBDD department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told the agency about the reasons for the event.
"Driving in a state of intoxication is unacceptable: this endangers the life and health of both the drunk driver and his passengers, as well as other road users. We urge citizens who have witnessed a drunk person driving a car or motorcycle, behaving inappropriately, creating dangerous situations on the road, to report this to the police," the officer urged.
He recalled that driving while intoxicated, as well as refusing a medical examination, entail deprivation of a driver's license for up to two years and a large fine.
In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these actions.
