The design of the Victory Park metro station in St. Petersburg, which is closed for reconstruction, will be supplemented with elements dedicated to the theme of the Great Patriotic War. This was reported to TASS by the governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov.
The station will receive an updated inclined course, new escalators and new decor. A memorial panel with general information about the Great Patriotic War, the Battle for Leningrad and the Leningrad Blockade will be placed on the above-ground pavilion from the park.
A mosaic depicting the Leningrad Victory Parade will be created in the upper tier of the hall, which will include the inscription "No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten." A stained glass image of the Order of Victory will also be created here.
The lower lobby of the station will be decorated with bas-reliefs of military leaders and civilian leaders of the city during the Leningrad Battle and panels with an artistic print of the historical photograph "The passage of the troops of the Leningrad Front through the Victory Arch on the Moscow Highway."
An original solution has been chosen for the station floor.
"The floor of the upper lobby is made of corrugated metal plates, the material of which includes melted armor of Fascist military equipment found at the battlefields around Leningrad. It is planned to put images of chevrons of military units that fought as part of the Wehrmacht on separate plates. They will be integrated into the floor pattern before and after the turnstiles — so that both incoming and outgoing passengers will step on them," Beglov concluded.
Recall that the Victory Park station was closed for reconstruction in 2025. It was planned that the renovated station would start operating in 2027. However, according to Fontanka, in the spring of 2026 it was decided to adjust the design documentation for the reconstruction of the Victory Park station. Presumably, the change of the project may delay the opening of the station for a year.
The station was opened in April 1961 as part of the first stage of the Moscow-Petrograd line "Victory Park" — "Technological Institute".
