Rosselkhoznadzor restricts the import of all quarantined products from Armenia. This is stated in a message on the agency's website.
"Rosselkhoznadzor since June 12 ... restricts the import of all quarantined products by origin and shipment from Armenia, as well as transit through Russia to the EAEU member states. The ban will be in effect until a specific algorithm is developed to ensure the security and traceability of shipped goods. The decision was made in connection with the systematic identification of quarantine facilities, " the report says.
It is noted that since May, the Rosselkhoznadzor has been gradually restricting the import of certain types of Armenian quarantined products and has repeatedly informed the Armenian side about the violation of supplies. However, Yerevan has not taken any measures, the detection of quarantine facilities continues.
In June, 3 cases of infection with the kaprov beetle of nuts, dried peaches and dried tomatoes from Armenia have already been identified. This indicates insufficient control by the authorized body of Armenia and causes distrust of the phytosanitary certification system, the agency said.
"The inefficiency of the activities of the Armenian plant quarantine and protection service endangers the phytosanitary well—being of Russia and the EAEU," they stressed.
The Kaprov beetle is a omnivorous pest of stocks, absent on the territory of Russia. It spoils the grain of cereals, oilseeds, legumes, industrial crops and products of their processing, as well as forest, ornamental and other crops. It can infect granaries, transport, warehouses of raw materials and flour, mills, feed mills, confectionery factories, malt storages and crushing shops of breweries. Capable of destroying up to 70% of stored products. Economic damage to the territory of Russia can be expressed not only in the loss of crops, the implementation of measures to localize and eliminate foci, but also in the possible loss of export markets with countries where this pest is an absent quarantine facility, which will lead to additional economic costs for the disinfection of exported grain products, explained in Rosselkhoznadzor.
As EADaily reported, Russia restricts the import of stone fruits and grapes from Armenia, as well as their transit to the EAEU countries. This was reported by the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor.
