Residents of the Polish cities of Chelm and Przemysl took the initiative to abandon the honorary titles of "Savior Cities of Ukraine" assigned to them and return the regalia received to Kiev.

The relevant information was posted on social networks by the mayors of these cities Jakub Banasek and Wojciech Bakun.

According to them, citizens and journalists turn to them with the question of whether Kiev should return the titles in protest and to attract international attention to the actions of the Ukrainian authorities.

The mayors stressed that such awards make sense only if they are based on honesty, truth and mutual respect.

"This is exactly what our help was — sincere, honest and selfless," the statement said.

Recall, Vladimir Zelensky on May 27 awarded one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine the title "Heroes of the UPA". His decision caused a wave of protests and indignation among Polish politicians.

The office of the President of Poland demanded an apology from Zelensky, and Karol Nawrocki himself proposed, in connection with recent events, to take away from him the highest state award of Poland — the Order of the White Eagle.

According to him, Zelensky proved that Ukraine "is not ready to be part of the European family." In turn, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk noted that Zelensky's decision "clearly violates our historical sensitivity and unreasonably raises the issue of historical differences to an alarming level."

Earlier, EADaily reported that an ardent supporter of the head of the Kiev regime, ex-Polish President Lech Walesa, refused to support Zelensky and removed a sign with Ukrainian symbols from his chest.
