The Finnish Debt Collection Authority confiscated Russian funds worth about € 4 million at the request of the Ukrainian company Naftogaz and its "daughters". This was reported by Yle TV and radio company.
According to her, we are talking about € 3.7 million, which Russia transferred to Finland until 2022 as part of the EU cross-border cooperation program. The project was designed to support development in the border areas between the countries. As the department explained, the money was transferred to the Finnish Ministry of Labor and Economic Development, but was not used and remained on the department's balance sheet after the project was curtailed in 2022.
According to Yle, the funds were confiscated at the request of the Ukrainian company Naftogaz and its "daughters". The decision on confiscation is temporary and is valid until further notice.
Yle clarifies that since 2024, the Finnish Debt Collection Authority has confiscated Russian property worth more than € 40 million.
