The Savelovsky District Court of Moscow received a statement of claim from the singer, People's Artist of Russia Philip Kirkorov to News Media JSC, which owns the online publications Life and Shot. This is reported by the joint press service of the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction.
The statement says that in both media at the same time there were publications about the artist's debt to pay for housing and communal services.
"The plaintiff claims that this information is not true and may be aimed at creating a negative image of him in the eyes of viewers who want to attend the artist's scheduled concerts," the report says.
Kirkorov asks to recognize the published information as untrue, discrediting his honor, dignity and business reputation. He also asks to oblige the defendant to publish a refutation, and to collect 521 thousand rubles and a state duty of 15 thousand rubles from Shot and Life.
According to the lawyer of the artist Roman Kuzmin, journalists illegally and without the consent of the king of pop music distributed his personal data: about the number of apartments, their area, cost and addresses — up to the streets and location.
The lawyer told Telegram channel 112 that he and his client intend to defend their civil rights in court. Kuzmin added that lawsuits will be filed against all those who defame the People's Artist of the Russian Federation, without exception.
As EADaily reported, the premiere of the play "Hamlet" starring Yura Borisov caused a great resonance and split the cultural community. Artistic director of the Yermolova Theater, People's Artist of Russia Oleg Menshikov called this production a "theatrical disaster," and called on Singers to control young directors. At the same time, Kirkorov harshly criticized Pevtsov's position, expressing the opinion that he "was jealous of Yura Borisov, who is the number one star today."
Pevtsov also stated that he did not know "who Kirkorov was," and was not going to sue him.
