The Akhalkalaki—Kars railway opens the way from Armenia to the EU through Turkey and Georgia. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"I am pleased to announce that the Akhalkalaki—Kars railway, like the railway of Azerbaijan, is now open for export from Armenia and import to Armenia. This is a big event in the economic life of our country. I thank my partners from Turkey and Georgia," he wrote on his telegram channel.
According to him, Armenia has established a railway connection with Russia through the territory of Georgia and Azerbaijan, and through Russia and Kazakhstan — with China, and now through the territories of Georgia and Turkey — with the European Union.
"In the near future, the Armenia—Turkey, Armenia—Azerbaijan railway is expected to open, and then through Nakhichevan — Armenia — Iran," Pashinyan said.
At the same time, he assured that this will happen in the near future as a result of the implementation of the TRIPP project ("Trump's Route for International Peace and Prosperity").
It should be recalled that in recent years, the Armenian authorities have taken a course towards rapprochement with the EU. This has already caused a negative reaction in Moscow, where they suggested that Yerevan decide and not try to sit on two chairs at once.
