Two Iranian missiles hit an American destroyer in The Strait of Hormuz. This is reported by the Fars agency.

The event took place on May 4, 2026 in The Strait of Hormuz near the port of Jask.

According to the agency, the strike was carried out after the US Navy frigate ignored warnings from the Iranian naval forces trying to pass through the strait. Tehran regarded this as a violation of the rules of safety of navigation in the zone, which, according to Iran, is controlled by its armed forces.

It is reported that two missiles hit an American ship. As a result of the hit, the frigate was unable to continue moving along its route and was forced to turn around and leave the area.

The incident occurred against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region. The US administration announced the launch of Operation Project Freedom to escort merchant ships through the Strait of Hormuz, to which Tehran responded with warnings that it would attack any foreign military forces trying to enter the strait without coordination. Also on the same day, the Iranian media reported on the publication of the IRGC map of the new "control zone" over the waters of the strait.
