The Russian Federation is the only country in the world where baddeleyite concentrate is produced, which is indispensable in high-temperature technologies.
Antonina Levashenko, head of the laboratory for the analysis of the best international practices of the Gaidar Institute, told RIA Novosti on Saturday, April 25.
"The only country in the world where baddeleyite concentrate, indispensable in high-temperature technologies, is produced is Russia. Only here it is extracted as a by—product during the processing of ores from zirconium deposits," the specialist said.
She stressed that in the rest of the world, only zirconium concentrates are produced when processing ores from zirconium deposits.
Levashenko clarified that baddeleyite concentrate is produced by the only company in Russia. This product is used in the production of refractory materials as protective structures, for ceramics and in foundry production.
The expert explained that due to its uniqueness and narrow specialization, baddeleyite concentrate has no competition on the world market, and therefore its price does not depend on its fluctuations.
Therefore, the price of the Russian exclusive is usually three times higher than that of premium zirconium concentrate, which is estimated at more than $ 2,400 per ton on the spot market.
Earlier, EADaily reported that Western media predict the collapse of the Russian economy. However, real changes in industry, employment and capital flows paint a different picture.
