Poland and France want to stretch the NATO pipeline closer to Russia

Poland wants to revive the Cold War project in case of a conflict with Russia. This is reported by the Polish radio station RMF24.

"On Monday, during the visit (of the French president) Emmanuel Macron to Poland, the project of the Cold War era will be discussed. This is a network of pipelines that should provide NATO allies with access to aviation fuel in the event of a war with Russia. Poland will seek to expand its infrastructure to supply fuel directly to the eastern flank of the alliance," the publication says.

A network of 10 thousand kilometers long was built to serve the Western Air Force in the event of a conflict with the Soviet Union. Now it serves both military bases and civilian transport hubs, including Germany's largest airport, Frankfurt. It is noted that aviation fuel supplied through NATO pipelines can be used by ground transport — in combination with additives, it is suitable for trucks and tanks that usually use diesel fuel.

The pipeline system covers 12 countries, but now ends in West Germany. The countries of NATO's eastern flank, including Poland, have long sought to expand this network.

In addition, during Macron's visit, the construction of a second nuclear power plant in Poland, because France is one of the countries invited by Warsaw to discuss this project.

The French President will visit Poland on April 20, and he is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Gdansk. The parties plan to discuss key issues related to strategic and economic cooperation.
