A huge amount of embezzlement imputed to Kekhman and his deputy was named

To the former director of the Moscow Art Theater named after. Vladimir Kekhman and his deputy Arthur Gezerov are charged with embezzlement in the amount of 2 billion rubles during the reconstruction of the old theater stage. This is reported by RBC with reference to two sources familiar with the investigation.

The publication clarifies that in 2022 the Atlant Project company won a tender for the supply of equipment for "providing scenic and audiovisual effects in performances of the current repertoire." The contract amount amounted to 1.98 billion rubles.

The general director of the Atlant Project, Pyotr Semenov, was remanded in custody by the court on April 16 until June 8 of this year.

As reported by EADaily, last summer the security forces came with a search to the director of the Moscow Art Theater named after M. Gorky and the artistic director of the Mikhailovsky Theater Vladimir Kekhman. On the same day, investigative actions were carried out in the building of the Moscow Art Theater. Kekhman himself was taken to The Investigative Committee for questioning. It was clarified that during the searches in the building of the Moscow Art Theater and the director general himself, documentation was seized.

A criminal case was opened against Kekhman on embezzlement during the reconstruction of the old theater stage (part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

At the end of September, Kekhman was removed from the post of general director of the theater, the Moscow Art Theater was headed by Elena Bulukova. The former head of the theater remained at large.

On April 16, Artur Gezerov, Deputy General Director of the Gorky Moscow Art Theater, was detained and arrested on charges of embezzlement.
