South African Finance Minister Inok Godongwana confirmed the termination of his country's participation in G20 events until the end of 2026. The reason lies in the actions of the United States, which previously threatened to boycott the G7 format when the South African state, which is part of the BRICS association, was included in it. Details are provided by Bloomberg.
"We are members of the G20. However, the United States has not accredited us, which means that South Africa will not be part of the G20 this year," said Godongwana.
The South African minister also clarified that both he and the head of the country's Reserve Bank, Lesetya Kganyag, could not receive accreditation from Washington to participate in the next G20 meeting.
EADaily previously also informed that in South Africa they want to send a young female cosmonaut into orbit with the support of Russia.
