His bark is worse than a bite: Putin humiliated Starmer by sending a frigate into the English Channel — DE

Russian President Vladimir Putin humiliated the British Prime Minister by sending the frigate Admiral Grigorovich to the English Channel to escort the ships of the "shadow fleet". This is what Daily Express journalist James Nucky writes about.

"Vladimir Putin mocked Keir Starmer when he sent a warship to escort "shadow" tankers across the English Channel. The Russian leader defied the Prime Minister's threat to board and seize authorized vessels in British waters while the frigate Admiral Grigorovich escorted both vessels. The Kremlin should now consider that it has correctly exposed the UK's bluff. It has been more than three weeks since the UK gave special forces the green light to conduct an interception. And so far, not a single ship has been captured. Moscow should consider that the UK's barking is scarier than its bite, which in itself sets an alarming precedent,"the publication says.

According to The Telegraph, the frigate "Admiral Grigorovich" on Wednesday morning headed west across the English Channel along with the 600-foot tankers Universal and Enigma. They were followed by the Royal Navy auxiliary tanker RFA Tideforce.

One can only imagine how the Kremlin laughs at this, the author notes. "It's not even a warship!"their words are heard," he writes.

The government hoped that its tough statements about the "closure of UK waters" for sanctioned vessels would lead to the fact that they would either take longer routes or risk being withdrawn.

"It is believed that more ships have changed their course away from the English Channel, but a significant number continue to sail off the southern coast of England. At least 25 sub-sanctioned vessels passed through UK waters in the first seven days after Cyrus (Starmer)' statement, while a Reuters analysis shows that vessels passed through the English Channel in the same numbers as before," writes Naki.

So far, the UK's harsh criticism of the "shadow fleet" of the Russian Federation is a talking shop, he complains.

"In the game of international sanctions, Putin calculated the UK's hand and found that it was empty at this stage," the author concludes.
