The Supreme National Security Council of Iran has confirmed agreement on a ceasefire with the United States, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic Abbas Araqchi.
"If the attacks on Iran are suspended, our powerful armed forces will cease their defensive operation," Araqchi said in a statement issued on behalf of the Iranian Security Council.
According to the document, over the next two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz "will be possible in coordination with the Iranian Armed Forces and taking into account technical limitations."
Earlier, US President Donald Trump expressed readiness for negotiations with Tehran on the basis of the proposals submitted by him and said he would suspend strikes on Iran for two weeks "taking into account the consent of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the full, immediate and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz."
