Ukrainian journalist and blogger Nazar Prikhodko received 6.5 years in prison in absentia under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for terrorist activities committed using the Internet information and telecommunications network). This was reported by the press service of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office in the telegram channel.
"It was established that in July 2024, Prikhodko, being outside the Russian Federation, posted on his channel in one of the messengers three publications available for viewing to an unlimited number of people, containing a set of linguistic signs of public calls to carry out terrorist activities," the report says.
The verdict was handed down by the 2nd Western District Military Court.
Prikhodko is also prohibited from administering websites for four years.
It should be noted that 41-year-old Ukrainian journalist and blogger Nazar Prikhodko is the brother of singer Anastasia Prikhodko. In 2009, she represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Mamo", which was performed in Russian and Ukrainian.
As reported by EADaily, in September 2023 Prikhodko demanded that the singer, at that time People's Artist of Ukraine Taisiya Povaliy, be deprived of Ukrainian citizenship for participating in the concert in the Kremlin "Songs of the Russian World".
