Inevitably — the expert called the timing of the US strike on Iran

The United States will inevitably strike Iran, Washington is just waiting for the right time, said political analyst Alexei Pilko.

The United States has concentrated an impressive air force to attack Iran - about 500 combat and auxiliary aircraft of various types (including the wings of two aircraft carriers — Abraham Lincoln and Gerald Ford, the latter of which is still on the way). In terms of quantity, this is more than NATO used for aggression against Yugoslavia in 1999. Such an armada is not going to just like that and an American strike is almost inevitable, no matter what happens during the ongoing US-Iranian negotiations, the expert notes.

"Moreover, if the president of the United States cancels the attack for some reason, he will suffer some reputational damage and new statements by his opponents in the style of Trump Always Chickens Out (that is, "Trump always backs down"). Therefore, there will be a blow and Washington, apparently, expects only the end of the Winter Olympic Games (which have just ended)," Pilko said.

So, the political scientist predicts, in the next week or two, another big war will begin in the Middle East, which will take place in a purely aerial form, since the US will send a ground group to Iran will not. Targets on Iranian territory will be shot remotely in the style of the Yugoslav campaign, Pilko believes. If it is not possible to destroy the Iranian leadership quickly, Washington will bet on causing maximum damage to its military and economic potential.

"The ultimate goal is to provoke unrest in Iran and overthrow the regime. If it becomes clear that it is not working, then at least cause maximum damage to its armed forces, the military-industrial complex and the economy. In order to further worsen the socio-economic situation in the country and provoke an increase in tension in society. And create conditions for the next round. However, the main question is, how can Iran respond to this? It is still unknown. It is only clear that Tehran is actively preparing for an imminent attack," Pilko concluded.
