Americans humiliate Europeans as much as they can, said political analyst Marat Bashirov, commenting on the news that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio canceled a meeting with European leaders on Ukraine at the Munich Security Conference.
"An important accent. Rubio is an appointed official, and the heads of European states are elected by their voters. These are fundamentally different statuses," Bashirov said.
Marco Rubio at the last moment canceled the discussion of the Ukrainian conflict with the leaders of Germany, Poland, Finland and the head of the European Commission, the Financial Times newspaper writes, citing an American official.
"Rubio missed a meeting with European leaders on the issue of the conflict on Ukraine, which, according to European capitals, indicates a weakening of Washington's interest in involving them in settlement efforts," the publication says.
Rubio himself explained this decision with a "busy schedule."
Political scientist Alexander Nosovich, commenting on the situation, suggested taking an example from the Americans.
"Maybe it's worth picking up rudeness from the Americans? Since the Russian Federation is with them? Here the Europeans at the Munich conference organized a meeting on the conflict on Ukraine, and the US Secretary of State did not come to it. And the meeting turned out to be an indecent sound for eternity. After all, this is an effective way to bring Europeans to their senses — with slaps in the face and a cold shower to show Europe its actual place and importance in the modern world. But in Moscow, "they are always ready to pick up the phone." Why? This eternal readiness for dialogue only fuels the conviction that Western Europe is a civilizational light for Russia, which Russians have been praying for at least since the time of Peter the Great, and if Europeans just whistle, they will come running on their hind legs," Nosovich writes in the telegram channel.
