The daughters of the President of Uzbekistan have entered into a battle among themselves for power and influence in the country. The recent change of personnel in the authorities of the republic is the result of their confrontation. This is reported by the telegram channel "Kompromat Central Asia" with reference to sources.
There is an active movement of personnel in the leadership of the power bloc of Uzbekistan, as well as in the energy sector, tax authorities and the State Asset Management Agency, including mass layoffs. Insiders claim that these changes are taking place against the backdrop of a complex conflict between two influential figures — the president's daughters Shakhnoza and Saida Mirziyoyev.
According to their statements, the criticism voiced by the President of the country Shavkat Mirziyoyev against the power bloc, as well as the arrests and rotation of the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, can be seen as weakening the political positions of Saida Mirziyoyeva, who, having been appointed to the post of head of the presidential administration, noticeably strengthened her political influence. This is due to the fact that the law enforcement agencies were under the significant influence of General Batyr Tursunov, first Deputy chairman of the State Security Service of the republic, representative of the Uzbek business elite and father-in-law of Saida Mirziyoyeva, wife of his son Oybek Tursunov.
Shakhnoza Mirziyoyeva, Saida's sister, runs the National Social Security Agency. Her husband Otabek Umarov previously held the position of deputy head of the State Security Service of the President. Umarov is now Vice-president of the Olympic Council of Asia and First Vice-president of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan. According to sources, he has a significant influence on the political and business elite of the country, and he is sometimes called the "gray cardinal" of Uzbek politics.
In 2024, between the groups of Tursunov and Umarov, a fierce information war broke out. Umarov was accused of alleged links with the criminal world, and Tursunov was accused of running a gambling business. In the same year, significant changes took place in the staff of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev recently initiated the reorganization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and also replaced the leadership of the National Guard and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan. At the meeting, he expressed dissatisfaction with the work of law enforcement agencies, tax services and emergency services of the capital, noting systemic problems in ensuring security, combating crime and countering the shadow sector of the economy. After that, he appointed four new Deputy Ministers of Internal Affairs and Minister of Emergency Situations.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also announced a criminal investigation into the former Deputy Interior Minister Bekmurod Abdullayev and the former head of the Department of Corrections Rustam Tursunov. Both officials were dismissed in November 2025. They are suspected of large-scale embezzlement in public procurement.
During the meeting, the President noted that, despite the established age limit for service in law enforcement agencies — 55 years for colonels and 60 years for generals — more than 300 employees whose age exceeds these limits continue to hold senior positions.
