At the 2026 Winter Olympics, Russians will compete in a neutral status, even if between Russia and Ukraine will reach peace agreements. This was stated by the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Kirsty Coventry in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
"The participation of the Russians in the event of any peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine? At this stage, nothing would have changed the decision already made. They will perform as neutral athletes in individual competitions," Coventry said.
As EADaily reported, in 2022 the IOC recommended that international sports federations suspend Belarusian and Russian athletes from competitions due to the situation on the Ukraine. Later, this Russophobic puppet organization softened its position, allowing athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete under a neutral flag.
