Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that for the sake of peace, Ukraine will have to give up territories. He said this at a government meeting, according to Reuters.
Tusk stated the need to move forward on territorial issues, since Russia demands the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the territory of Donbass controlled by them, and Kiev demands the cessation of hostilities along the current front line.
"It is clear that from his (Vladimir Zelensky. — EADaily) point of view, a referendum would be necessary. The Ukrainian people will have to agree to territorial decisions… Peace is on the horizon, there is no doubt that there have been events that give reason to hope that this war can end, and quite quickly, but it is still a hope, far from one hundred percent. When I say that peace is on the horizon, I mean the coming weeks, not months or years. By January, we will all have to come together to make decisions about the future of Ukraine, the future of this part of the world..." — said Tusk.
According to him, the key result of recent days is the US declaration of readiness to participate in the security guarantees of Ukraine after the conclusion of a peace agreement, including the presence of American troops on the border or on the line of contact between Ukraine and Russia. "We will see how consistent our partners on the other side of the Atlantic will be, but this gives hope for a successful outcome," Tusk said.
As EADaily reported, when concluding a peace agreement with Ukraine, Russia should receive from the United States the same security guarantees that Washington is ready to provide to the Kiev regime. This opinion was expressed to TASS by the commander of the 7th assault brigade of the Volunteer Corps of the Russian forces in the area of the special military operation, Alexander Borodai.
