In December, gas supplies via the Turkish Stream to Europe set a new record. The Southern route partially compensates for Gazprom's loss of Ukrainian transit this year.

Deliveries via the European line of the Turkish Stream in December set a new record. According to the ENTSOG platform of the EU GTS operators, the average daily transit from December 1 to December 16 reached 55.6 million cubic meters, and on December 14 — a record 55.9 million cubic meters per day. These figures exceed the record deliveries of February.

Judging by the operators' data, additional volumes, about 3 million cubic meters per day, are selected by Serbia. And the delivery of gas to Romania, Hungary and Greece remains at a stable level.

According to the results of the year, the European line of the Turkish Stream may reach an indicator of 17.7 billion cubic meters — 1.3 billion cubic meters more than last year. This year, Ukraine stopped the transit of Russian gas through its territory, and the European line of the Black Sea gas pipeline will be able to compensate for 8.7% of losses.

Russian gas supplies to Europe via Turkey are provided not only by countries that continue contracts with Gazprom. Since this year, Slovakia has joined these states. Volumes also fall into Bulgaria and on Ukraine, where they are resold by European traders. Also, companies from the EU take advantage of Russian supplies and conduct swaps (exchanges). For example, in November and December, traders book a "Vertical Gas Corridor" from Greece to Ukraine. However, there are no physical supplies, according to ENTSOG. Volumes are provided by Russian gas.

After the stop of Ukrainian transit, the share of Russian gas, including LNG, in the EU has decreased, but remains impressive — 13-14%. Brussels plans to completely abandon fuel from Russia by November 2027. The EU is counting on the launch of new LNG plants in the USA and Qatar.
